Christmas and 9 months

Cade Christmas morning.
Loving his new chair.
So happy for his present from Santa.
Riding his new walk'n'ride. He loves it.
We also took him to the doctor this month for his 9 month wellness check up. Here are his stats.
Height: 25 inches (.16 percentile on the growth charts) His doctor isn't worried about his height, he said someone has to be the last kid on the charts and it's probably going to be Cade.
Weight: 19 pounds(23rd percentile)
He is a very physical child and loves to be on the move. He climbs, crawls, and walks along the furniture. He eats like a champ and gets upset when his meal is done. He is still sleeping through the night, usually from 8pm to 8am. But no teeth yet. And he babbles all the time, but mostly to get our attention. He is adorable.

Climbing

Cade loves to climb. Here is an example of one of his adventures.
He figured out how to open the door.
Getting inside...
And success. He was very proud of himself.

Thanksgiving and 8 months

These are old pictures, but better late than never!

This is our family on Thanksgiving. We went to my parents house and had some great food. Cade enjoyed sitting in his highchair and being able to see everyone and all the food. He tried a few things, but mostly ate a few bites of corn.
Cade at 8 months old. (even though he is 9 months old now) I had just gotten his haircut a few days before. I think he looks much older and like a little man with short hair. Very cute. He is always sticking his tongue out.
And just because I thought this picture was cute. He is very good at crawling around(mostly in the army crawl fashion)and tries to pull himself up on furniture-but he isn't always tall enough to reach.

Happy Halloween!

We carved pumpkins this year! We got a big one for me and Brian and a little baby one for Cade. Brian did a great job cleaning and carving each pumpkin.
Cade wasn't so sure what to think about the "guts" of the pumpkin, but he was happy to play with them for a few minutes.
This was Cade's pumpkin. It's a block U.
All of the pumpkins together. Our's on the left, Cade's in the middle, and Heather's on the right.

6 month old photos

I went up to Logan to visit my friend Tiara and while I was there she took some pictures of Cade for his 6 month mark. Here are a few of my favorites. I have all of them on Facebook if you're interested.

This is his halloween costume.

My friend Heather made these letters for his room.

This is the perfect picture of his sad face. Brian this the caption should say "I hate it when the Broncos lose."

7 months and a dog

I'm 7 months old! My how time flies! I love to play and stay in my pjs all day! I am now wearing 3-6 month size clothes. I am a very happy boy and am looking forward to learning how to crawl(I am very good at creeping around with my arms like a snake)and can't wait until I have some teeth so I can eat what mom and dad are eating!
We also got a dog! Hooray! His nam is Shoku(it means friend in Albanian) we adopted him from the Humane Society. He's 8 months old and is a Chow chow/Australian Shepard mix. He is very well behaved and came to us house trained! It's been great. Cade and I feel much safer at night with him around when Brian goes to work.

6 months

Cade turned 6 months old in September. He is very talented at this age. He can sit up all on his own. Scream and make all kinds of noises. And eat food like a champ. He also sleeps through the night now. He'll go down at 7:30pm and sleep until around 8am, he might wake up once or twice but usually just talks himself back to sleep. He loves his binki and any toy you give him. He really likes animals(especially dogs) and will giggle anytime they get within reach. Cade is great and we love him lots.

6 month old stats: Weight-17 lbs (42nd percent, up from the 5th) Height-23 inches (.26 percent, down from the 2nd)
His doctor said that if he hasn't gone up past the 5th percent for height at his 9 month check up then he'll probably run some test on his thyroid and growth hormone level. We aren't too worried about it-it's not like Brian and I are giants, he's probably just small like us!

Just because he's cute

Here are some 5 month old pictures (even though he's almost 6 months old now)

Cade loves to sit up, and is trying his hardest to do it without support-but I just don't think his body is quite big enough yet.
Here is a picture of Cade with his cousin Christoper, who is 3 months younger, and they are about the same size!
Cade loves to jump in his bouncer. Seriously he can spend at least 30 minutes at a time in it. He loves to just jump jump jump!
And I am pretty sure he's the happiest baby I have even known, just look at him and he'll smile. The ladies won't be able to resist that smile...

Hey! Look at me!

Hello! I am 4 months old! I am really good at holding onto my toys and getting them into my mouth.I like looking at the TV so much that I'll do anything to see it.I can even grab 2 toys at a time! I also like to hold onto my burp cloth, so I have the with me all the time.
I just tried rice cereal for the first time. (You gotta be kidding me, this stuff has no flavor!)
I am getting better about riding in my carseat, as long as I have my lion, toy, and binki I don't mind it as much!
Cade is a very good baby. He is getting really good at putting things in his mouth and loves to chew on things. He likes to play with his binki, putting it in and out of his mouth (he can almost get it back in by himself everytime). He smiles all the time and if he is in the mood then he'll laugh, but he is very picky about what he finds funny. He likes to sit up and look at the world, he only likes to lay down if he's sleeping or on his playmat. He is now eating 8oz bottles 4-5 times a day and is pretty good at sleeping through the night and he puts himself to sleep at night and naptime. He still hates bath time, I am still hoping that will change in the near future.

4 month old stats: Weight-12lbs 1oz Height-23 inches (5th percential for both, his doctor said he's bringing up the caboose for boys his age)

3 months old

Hello! I am 3 months old!

I am getting so good at sitting upright, especially in my bumbo. I love being able to sit up and see what's going on around me! I especially like leaning against pillows.
I am very happy and smile when people talk to me.
I am also practicing grabbing at toys, I am getting pretty good at it. My favorite thing to reach for is the purple elephant.
This is one of my favorite toys, it lights up when you spin the ball!
Cade at 3 months old is pretty much the same as he was at 2 months old. He still sleeps the same, but now he doesn't like to have his arms wrapped up in the blanket. We also recently discovered a bedtime formula that helps him sleep through the night without interruptions. He can now sleep until 8am without needing to eat, we love it. Lately his naps have been a little off, sometimes he will and sometimes he won't-his morning nap is the most sporatic one. He loves his daddy and will quiet down everytime he holds him. Brian feeds him in the morning when he gets home from work, they get some special bonding time while I get a little more sleep. Cade really looks forward to his alone time with his daddy.
He is getting a little bigger each week. I don't think he's getting much taller-but he definitely is getting heavier. He is very sensitive to his surroundings. He doesn't like his stroller, unless it's going perfectly smooth and doesn't hit any bumps. Loud noises really make him upset. And he has decided he HATES showers now. If he is awake and his diaper is wet/messy he demands that it be changed immediately. The only time he likes his carseat is if the car is moving, as soon as you stop (and even as you start to slow down) he will start to cry, but as soon as you start moving again he'll settle down. 98% of the time he is very happy and so much fun to play with, as long as his surroundings are calm and to his standards of perfection.

Update

It's been a few weeks since I've updated what's going on in our lives! So here we go...
Brian is still working the graveyard shift at ARUP but he switched his schedule to be 7 days on 7 days off. His week where he has to work is rough. Cade and I miss him, but then we all really like his week off because we get to spend lots of time together! I went back to work this month. It's good. I like being able to get out of the house on a regular basis, plus I get to take Cade with me. The kids that I watch love him. They like to play with him, which most of the time is okay-but every so often he gets a little overwhelmed by then and I need to hold him for a bit to get him to calm down. I also celebrated my first Mother's Day. We spent the day relaxing and visting with family. Then it was our 2 year anniversary! We went to a dinner and a movie to celebrate. It's been a great 2 years! And soon after that it was my birthday! I am offically 24! Again, we spent the day relaxing and went to lunch and dinner. Sadly I didn't get any pictures of any of these events.

As for Cade he recently turned 2 months old!
He still likes to practice sitting up in his Bumbo chair.
But he loves his bouncy chair and musical Lion. He'll always smile and laugh at it when you turn it on.He is now almost big enough to wear some 0-3 month onesies. My friend from Logan made these church onesies for him and he worn it for the first time this last Sunday, he looked very handsome with his tie on!
Cade is also really good at holding his head up. His leg and arm movements are becoming less jerky and more fluid and intentional. He smiles all the time, and we think he has started to laugh. We can't quite tell if it's a happy squeal/laugh or an upset sound, either way it's pretty cute when he does it. He isn't really interested in toys yet, but likes it when you read books to him. He still doesn't like the bath and will tolerate a shower as long as it doesn't take too long. And he doesn't mind being in his carseat as long as the car is moving, but as soon as it stops he'll start crying. He is eating 5-6oz every 4 hours during the day and can go for 6 hours at night before waking up. We are starting to get into a daily routine. His first feeding is around 7am, he'll go back down for a morning nap around 8am and sleep until 10am. He'll eat again at 11am and take a long afternoon nap until 3pm when he eats again. After that it is his awake and play time. He does need one or two catnaps to get him through until 7pm when he eats again and has a little more play time until 8pm when we get ready for bed. After that I wrap him up and hold/bounce him until 8:15ish when I lay him down and he puts himself to sleep until around between 11 and midnight where he'll take a dream feeding to get him through the night! Most of the time he is very happy and content just to sit and hang out. We love it! He is still wearing newborn size clothes for the most part and a couple 0-3 month onesies, he's pretty small but I like it that way! He had his 2 month check up where he got his first round of shots (which he handled really well) we gave him baby tylenol that night for the pain and he took it like a champ! The doctor said everything looks great and that he his doing really well.
Here are his 2 month stats: Weight-9lbs 8oz Height-20.5 inches (he is in the 5th percentile for both)

Baby Blessing

We blessed Cade on May 2nd. It went really well, and Brian did an amazing job.
I only managed to take 2 pictures the whole day! I need to get better about taking pictures.

This is Cade with Sophie-they are the first great-grand kids. A 4 generations picture. All of the Christensen men with 25 years between each one.

Smiles

Isn't he just the cutest baby ever?

One month old

Cade's one month mark was on Sunday. He is getting so big, well not size wise but with the things he can do! He is really good at holding is head up and looking around. I got him a Bumbo seat this week to help him practice sitting up and holding his head. So far I think he likes it!

He also likes laying on his playmat and looking at the dangling toys above. I'm not sure if he can actually see the toys but he likes to lay there and move his legs and arms around.

And he also likes to sit in his chair and look at books, he really likes the striped pages-especially the black and white ones.
He is still fitting into newborn size clothes, so I am not sure how much weight he has gained-but I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the 7 pound range. We go back to the doctor next month so we'll find out then. He is eating 4oz bottles every 3-4 hours, and can go 5 hours at night before needing to eat again. He also started sleeping in his pack and play all by himself over the weekend (up until that point he was sleeping next to me in our bed) I am very happy to have him sleeping on his own. Nap times are still a hit and miss. Somedays he'll nap after each time that he eats for an hour or so, and other days he'll sleep a total of 2 or 3 hours all day. I'm hoping to get him on a more definite schedule soon.
